Kinesio Taping
The stretchy, colorful tape you've seen on athletes has a real job to do. As part of your care, Urvashi Barbhaya, RPT, OCS, uses kinesio taping to support muscles and joints, ease swelling, and help you move.
What kinesio taping does
Kinesio tape is an elastic therapeutic tape applied along muscles and joints. Unlike rigid strapping, it moves with you, offering gentle support without limiting motion. Used thoughtfully, it can help:
- Support muscles and joints during activity
- Reduce swelling and support circulation
- Ease pain and provide feedback during movement
- Encourage better movement patterns
- Complement hands-on treatment and exercise
Part of a bigger plan
Taping is an adjunct, not a cure on its own. It works best alongside the active parts of your care — exercise, manual therapy, and education — giving a helpful boost while the underlying issue is addressed. Urvashi will show you what it's doing and why.
What to expect
The tape is applied in-session, is comfortable to wear, and typically stays on for several days, including through showers. It's a small, supportive piece of a well-rounded treatment plan.
